The title of this photo is “Der Frühling ist da… / Welcome spring.
“
Yes, the happy face was part of the title. May your Tuesday be filled with strong, full-bodied coffee from the far western corner of Venezuela.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted up some fine Holga pictures, milady. There was a time when I tried making “milady” become a part of southern Californian lingo, but it didn’t spread as quickly as I had hoped. My friends and I thought it would be great to yell out “milady” after we did something great or totally burned someone. Here are some examples:
1. You’re playing one-on-one b-ball with your sworn enemy, let’s say Shaquille O’Neal (Kazaam!). He tries to block you with his frying pan-sized hands. You spin to the right, fake left, and then you jump in the air doing one of those I’ll-fly-across-50-feet-like-badass-Michael-Jordan moves, slam dunking so hard that you shatter the backboard. And that’s when you say “milady!”
Since we’re on the topic of Michael Jordan, let’s watch a montage of him slam dunking.

You were totally impressed, huh? I forgot how cool he was…I mean is. Because he’s still alive and stuff.

I used to post a Holga picture every week, and then it didn’t happen for a long time and I don’t even know why. I’m bringing it back for the attack. I’ll try to be more proactive about putting up the pictures. (Note: These are just pictures I like to look at and find interesting. It’s rare that I’ll post one up that I’ve taken). Here’s one somebody took from Burning Man. My favorite is the girl in the background. She just couldn’t even wait – her pants are already off!

Before I post the holga photo of the week, I’d like to recommend a few artistic findings of mine:
1. One of my jet-setter students is an amazing photographer. He really captures the true inner image of people in his photos and also of life around the world. I am especially a big fan of his photos of children. They’re breathtaking. Check out his website!
2. Recently, I went to the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach. They just had their grand opening last week and their permanent exhibit is really worth checking out. I was worried it would be some contemporary art crap, but the contemporary art they’re showcasing is really different and beautiful and left me in awe. And Fridays are free for all! What? Art for free? That’s crazy talk.

This one’s titled “the girl with the sun in her head”. Very fitting. She’s so adorable that I just want to put her on my shoulders, but she would probably be as tall as me and that just wouldn’t work…

I love the color. As you can tell by the lack of traffic, we’re not in L.A. anymore. Time to click your heels three times…
